Tottenham Hotspur kick start their new Premier League campaign on Saturday by hosting Southampton.
Spurs will be eager to kick on under Antonio Conte following their impressive top-four finish last term.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Saints, the Italian has been speaking about the availability of his players.
Skipp and Richarlison out vs Southampton
Conte has revealed that Oliver Skipp is Spurs’ only definite injury absentee for Saturday.
The midfielder suffered a nasty foot injury in training and could miss a couple of weeks.
Yves Bissouma is another player who is carrying a slight knock, although, at the moment, he is only a doubt.
Conte told the media:
“At the moment, we only have one player who will definitely miss Southampton and that is Skipp.
“Bissouma, another day [before the game] still, nothing serious, but I don’t want to take a risk with anyone for the next games.”
Richarlison will also miss the game due to suspension.
The Brazilian was handed a one-match ban from the FA for launching a flare into the crowd in celebrations against Chelsea.
Will Ivan Perišić start vs Southampton
Ivan Perišić is reunited with Antonio Conte this season, with the duo enjoying much success together in their title-winning season at Inter Milan.
This season, there are some question marks though over his game time this season as he will be vying for the LWB spot with Ryan Sessegnon.
In addition, with the new rule of five substitutions, plenty of rotation between both players is expected over the course of the season.
The Croatian also arrived in north London carrying an injury and has been a slight doubt for the start of the season.
Conte has today revealed that he is yet to make a decision as to whether he will go with Perišić or Sessegnon against Southampton.
He is expected to make the call following tomorrow’s training session, according to Dan Kilpatrick.
