Thibaut Courtois sends message to Chelsea fans ahead of Champions League showdown


Thibaut Courtois has been speaking about the Chelsea faithful ahead of their encounter with his Real Madrid side on Wednesday evening.

The two European powerhouses, who met in the semi-finals of last season’s competition, go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge later today.

Ahead of the tie Courtois, who spent a number of years on Chelsea’s books and made over 120 appearances for them, has urged the Blues faithful not to boo him:

"I hope that they (supporters) don't boo me, but you never know,” he said.

"I hope it's a happy return to Stamford Bridge. We're now rivals. They'll want to win and the same goes for me. "So I'm not expecting any applause from the fans."

Chelsea vs Real Madrid

Chelsea head into the Real Madrid game on the back of a pretty concerning 4-1 loss at the hands of Brentford.

Despite this major upset, Thomas Tuchel is still likely confident of getting one over on Madrid this week and next week.

The German would beat Real with Chelsea in the semi-finals of last season’s Champions League, with the Blues of course going on to win the competition.

And before that, Tuchel was already unbeaten against the Spanish powerhouse when in charge of both Borussia Dortmund and PSG:
