Thiago fears sparked ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal

Concerns surrounding the fitness of Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara have been sparked across the Reds’ fanbase on Friday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops, of course, are primed for a major early-season test this weekend.

Already trailing table-topping Arsenal by a full 11 points, the Merseyside giants will make the trip to north London, for a Premier League meeting with Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

Liverpool are fresh off a morale-boosting return to winning ways in midweek, when they followed up an alarming 3-3 stalemate with Brighton with a 2-0 Champions League downing of Scottish giants Rangers.

One of those most widely singled out for praise on the back of the latest European night at Anfield, meanwhile, came in the form of Thiago Alcantara.

Spanish international Thiago, who only recently returned to fitness on the back of another spell on the sidelines, was in fine form throughout the 90 minutes, controlling proceedings from his berth in the middle of the park.

In turn, it goes without saying that all associated with Liverpool would have been hopeful of the club’s star midfielder being fit and ready to feature from the off this weekend.

As alluded to above, though, less than 48 hours out from the Emirates clash, concerns have begun to spread when it comes to Thiago’s wellbeing.

This comes amid widespread confirmation that the former Bayern Munich standout was not involved in training with the rest of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad on Friday.

The Reds faithful now face an anxious wait, to discover whether or not this came simply as a precaution, or owing to yet another injury concern.
