Which teams will be promoted to the Premier League this season?

Fulham vs Cardiff

The race for Promotion is really hotting up.

Wolves were without a doubt the greatest team in the Championship this season and won the league with two games to spare.

Fulham, Cardiff and Aston Villa are all battling out for the second automatic promotion spot but The Villains are a couple of points adrift of their rivals.

Cardiff threw away a one goal lead at Derby on Tuesday night and one more slip up could cost them a place in the Premier League.

Fulham are hot on The Bluebird’s tails and will go above Cardiff on Friday night if they can beat Sunderland who have already been relegated to League One.

The run in

Cardiff are currently second in the table with 86 points whilst Fulham are a point and a position behind them.

Cardiff still have to play Hull (a) and Reading (h) whereas Fulham have to face Sunderland (h) and Birmingham (a).

Realistically, from the two remaining games, Fulham should have no problem in getting 6 points.

Cardiff on the other hand, have lost 3 out of their last 5 games and even though their remaining fixtures are against teams in the bottom 8 of the table, three points are not guaranteed.

The play-offs

Aston Villa are guaranteed a place in the play-offs unless both Fulham and Cardiff both lose their remaining two games.

Middlesborough and Derby are likely to make the remaining two teams in the play-offs as things stand.

Millwall and Brentford can both mathematically make the play-offs but they will have to depend on the results of their rivals.

Millwall face Boro at the Riverside this weekend in a vital match for both sides. A win for the hosts will guarantee a spot in the play-offs whilst a win for the visitors would keep their promotion hopes alive.

Aston Villa take on fellow promotion hopefuls Derby this weekend at Villa Park. The away side would be guaranteed a spot in the play-offs if they win and Millwall and Brentford both lose.

Brentford are one of the most in-form teams in the league and they will surely be a force to be reckoned with next season but they will depend on the results of both Millwall and Derby if they are to go up this season.

101 Great Goals predicts

I think that Fulham will join Wolves in the Premier League next season as I can see Cardiff pulling up short once again over the next two match days.

In my opinion, the play-off places will be taken by Cardiff, Aston Villa, Middlesborough and Millwall with Aston Villa beating Cardiff at Wembley for a spot in the Premier League.
