Southampton Team News

  • Out: Armel Bella-Kotchap, Romain Perraud, Mohammed Salisu, Juan Larios
  • Doubt: Tino Livramento

Nothing short of winning out for the remainder of the current 2022-23 Premier League season will suffice for Southampton if Saints are to avoid an unthinkable drop down to the Championship that has, perhaps, been a long time coming.

Club manager Rubén Sellés has grown in popularity despite the club’s position, but there is no telling whether or not the Spanish tactician will face the ax or not given the reality that, without maximum points and help from above, the impending summer exodus on the back of relegation may be one fire too great.

A weekend clash in front of home support at St. Mary’s Stadium against Fulham is hardly a great way to start the final push, against a Marco Silva outfit that has overachieved this season and finds itself in the top half of the table on merit. A handful of key figures are set to miss out at the weekend as well, with young German center-back Armel Bella-Kotchap now out for the season due to a hamstring injury, joining Romain Perraud and Juan Larios who are both also out for the rest of term. Mohammed Salisui is also ruled out of contention, while Tino Livramento continues his recovery but will not be available.
