Everton and Newcastle have named their starting teams for their meeting at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the final match of the EFL Cup fourth round on Thursday – with Jack Grealish missing for the hosts because of a “breach of club discipline”.
The Toffees have reached this stage with two wins over second-tier clubs, beating Preston North End 4-0 away and prevailing 1-0 at home to Wolves through Charly Alcaraz’s 80th-minute goal.
The Magpies have advanced courtesy of two 81st-minute goals, Harvey Barnes deciding their contest at home to West Bromwich Albion in the second round before Joe Willock settled their trip to another Championship side, Millwall, in the third round.
The winners of the tie will progress to a quarter-final away to fourth-tier Fleetwood Town, who won at home on penalties against reigning Premier League champions Arsenal on Tuesday following a 1-1 draw.

Do EFL Cup quarter final ties go to extra time, replays and penalties?
Should they finish level after 90 minutes, EFL Cup ties go straight to penalties until the semi-finals, which take place over two legs.
If the scoreline is level after the second leg, extra time and – if necessary – penalties are used to separate teams.
The final is a one-off match at Wembley Stadium, with extra time and penalties used if required.
