Maurizio Sarri confirms Eden Hazard’s Chelsea role and offers injury update

A false nine

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted he will keep playing Eden Hazard as a false nine.

In a further blow to both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, Sarri noted that he’s happier with Hazard up top.

The Blues have struggled at times this season with their forwards.

However, since trialling Hazard in the false nine position, Sarri has been happier with their performances and overall stability.

Injury update for Chelsea

Sarri also offered an injury update for Chelsea.

He noted that Pedro will be out for some time, and it comes at the worst moment for young Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

That’s because he could well have played instead – yet is out with his own injury that saw him subbed off as Chelsea played Watford.

It’s that time of the year when injuries come thick and fast for clubs.

Not to mention suspensions.

The Blues know they need to push on in the fight for the top four and could break away from Arsenal slightly if Liverpool do them a favour and Chelsea win their own game.
