A head-turning statistic, highlighting Manchester United’s woes on the road this season, has come to the fore late on Thursday evening.
United, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
With sights set on a fifth win in six, Erik ten Hag’s troops made the trip to England’s south coast, for a Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.
When all was said and done at the Amex, however, such efforts on the part of the Red Devils came up short, in nothing short of heartbreaking fashion.
This came as a Luke Shaw mistake deep into injury time set the stage for Alexis Mac Allister to sweep home a Brighton winner from the penalty spot with a full 98 minutes on the clock.
Manchester United, in turn, saw the club’s hopes of a 3rd-place finish dented.
As alluded to above, though, even more concerning for Ten Hag and co. will be the emergence of a statistic, highlighting just how badly the Red Devils have struggled in fixtures on the road, against the Premier League’s top-half.
As revealed by Andy Mitten of The Athletic, United’s record in visits to the top-nine this season now stands as follows:
Played: 8
Won: 0
Drawn: 1
Lost: 7
