Revealed: Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen’s new Manchester United number and FPL price

The Argentine is set to play a major role this season

Manchester United have revealed that new signing Lisandro Martinez will wear the no.6 for the upcoming season following his arrival from Ajax this summer.

The Red Devils announced the arrival of the Argentine on Wednesday, with the 24-year-old penning a five-year deal with an option for an additional year at Old Trafford should things go as hoped.

Martinez becomes Manchester United’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of Christian Eriksen on a free transfer and Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, and has set the club back a reported £57m.

And, having worn the no.21 for all of his time in Amsterdam, it was expected that he would take that number in Manchester too, currently vacant after Edinson Cavani left the club at the beginning of the summer.

Now, however, it has been confirmed that he will take the no.6 at the club, which was left vacant by Paul Pogba’s departure this summer instead.

Meanwhile, fellow new signing Christian Eriksen has been handed the no.14 shirt, which Jesse Lingard vacated when his contract ended as part of the mass exodus at the beginning of the summer.

FPL price revealed

The defender is alongside the likes of Arsenal’s Ben White, Newcastle summer addition Sven Botman and teammate Diogo Dalot as options at this low price, and could well end up being one of the most effective of those mentioned if he can live up to the hype that has surrounded his arrival.

He will have to do plenty too, with Manchester United conceding as many goals as relegated Burnley last campaign and with four of the back five that ended last season likely to start against Brighton on the opening day of the season.

But, he could potentially be a differential option in plenty of squads.

Eriksen’s price is yet to be revealed, but should he be below 8m, he could well be someone to put into your side as an alternative to the more expensive Bruno Fernandes.
