Firmino at the double

Word of Liverpool's imminent boost on the financial front of course comes with Jurgen Klopp's troops fresh off the back of taking another step towards European glory, and with it an unprecedented quadruple, on Wednesday night.

After welcoming Portuguese heavyweights Benfica to Merseyside in possession of a two-goal advantage owing to a 3-1 win in Lisbon last week, the Reds, as expected, marched on, this time courtesy of a six-goal thriller.

Despite strikes on the part of Roman Yaremchuk and Darwin Nunez providing Benfica with a glimmer of hope late on, Roberto Firmino's double adding to an early Ibrahima Konate header ensured that Liverpool emerged on the right side of a 6-4 aggregate result.

Awaiting the Merseysiders in the competition's final-four, in turn, will be Villarreal, after Unai Emery's troops shocked the masses en route to sending German giants Bayern Munich packing on Tuesday night.
