Real Madrid team news and predicted XI vs Chelsea

All the latest ahead of the Champions League clash

Real Madrid are looking to put their stuttering La Liga form to one side as they host Chelsea in a bid to defend their Champions League crown at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos fell to a 3-2 defeat over the weekend at the hands of Villarreal, but face a Chelsea side in domestic freefall, with Frank Lampard’s side 11th in the Premier League and with just one win in their last five games.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side got the better of the Blues last season on their way to lifting the Champions League trophy, with Karim Benzema helping them survive an early scare to knock out what was then Thomas Tuchel’s side.

This time around, it looks a more one-sided affair on paper, but with nothing left to play for this season other than the European trophy, Chelsea could still cause Madrid plenty of problems across the two legs, meaning that the Spanish giants will want a comfortable outing at the Bernabeu to set up a second leg in their favour.

Read on for the latest injury news from Ancelotti’s side, and how we expect them to line up for the clash.

Team News

Real Madrid come into the tie with just one injury concern, with Ferland Mendy still sidelined through injury. It means that Eduardo Camavinga could once again deputise at left-back, though David Alaba could also be available to do so if necessary.

Meanwhile, Karim Benzema has managed to rid himself of the injuries which have plagued him this season, and will be expected to take his place alongside Vinicius Jr in the Los Blancos frontline.
