Ralf Rangnick identifies key issue in Manchester United squad with only two players able to avoid it

It is fair to say that things have not exactly improved at Manchester United since Ralf Rangnick took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Now though, it appears the German has identified the main issue that this current United side have, and it is one that has been brought over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time in charge.

As per ESPN, Ralf Rangnick has identified a lack of ability to overcome adversity within the squad he inherited from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It is added that only Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw are regarded as consistently displaying the quality required to overcome adversity since Rangnick took charge in December.

It is easy to see why Rangnick may think this, with Man United, on five occasions under him, having surrendered the lead in games in which they have gone on to draw.

ESPN, meanwhile, explain that the former RB Leipzig boss and his coaches have been alarmed by the manner in which dominant performances have quickly deteriorated into a situation where the team is forced to hold onto a point.

Manchester United vs Tottenham

The Red Devils are set to face off with Tottenham in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.

The tie is a huge one for both sides, with a loss likely to be very damaging in both their hunts for a top-four finish.

Manchester United were knocked off 4th spot by Arsenal on Sunday after the Gunners beat Watford and United lost to Manchester City.

The Manchester outfit are now one point behind Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta’s side do have three games in hand.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are down in 6th, but could catch Manchester United if they win their games in hand or pick up a win this weekend.
