Barcelona agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for the signing of Robert Lewandowski for £42.5m last month.
The hitman has since linked up with Barcelona for their pre-season tour and is expected to be their main striker in 2022/23.
Lewandowski made his debut for La Blaugrana this past weekend, scoring one and assisting two for his new club.
Now, with the new season upon us, the hitman has opened up on his time at Barca so far:
“I feel like a little kid walking into a big store full of new toys. What I feel in Barcelona so far is pure happiness and motivation to start this new chapter,” he said.
“In Munich I missed new challenges. I won many titles and I noticed that I felt less and less intensity. I needed another challenge, a boost. A change of environment.”
Lewandowski added: “Guardiola’s philosophy, his style of looking after and managing the team… I think he basically ‘brought’ Barça to Bayern Munich. And Xavi is a lot like Guardiola. Both were ‘6′, worked together. They think about football the same way.
“With that in mind, Barça was the only option for me. I didn’t speak to him before signing. But being with him at Bayern was like great preparation to arrive at Barça one day. There were a lot of Spanish officials, there were eight Spanish players. I had a very good relationship with Thiago and Javi Martínez, both congratulated me when I signed for Barça.”
Lewandowski’s first competitive outing for Barcelona is expected to come on Saturday the 13th of August vs Rayo Vallecano.
