Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has, late on Sunday, provided an update on the wellbeing of winger Anthony Gordon.
As the Magpies faithful will be well aware, January signing Gordon played no part earlier today, as his side secured a much-needed return to winning ways at the expense of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The former Everton standout was omitted from Eddie Howe’s matchday squad, after picking up an ankle injury en route to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last weekend.
Despite initially showing no signs of any kind of significant issue at The Etihad, ensuing medical tests this week saw Gordon’s ankle spark concern.

Speaking to the media on the back of this evening’s action at St. James’ Park coming to a close, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his talented young attacker’s fitness was put to Eddie Howe.
And Newcastle’s boss went on to confirm that Gordon is indeed in line for a spell on the sidelines.
“He came in and had it scanned, hoping we could get away with it and he would be all right. But unfortunately not. He’ll miss probably the next two games. We’re unsure if he’ll be back after the international break. We’re hopeful but that’s not 100 per cent certain.”
