Marcus Rashford matches Robin van Persie as Chelsea fans poke fun at their own side

Manchester United’s victory over Chelsea on Thursday evening has since given rise to a pair of head-turning stories.

The first surrounds the production of Red Devils star Marcus Rashord.

En route to a 4-1 rout for the evening’s hosts at Old Trafford, wide-man Rashford was introduced off the bench, in place of the injured Antony.

And the England international went on to make his presence very much felt, taking advantage of a dismal mistake on the part of Wesley Fofana to round out the scoring for Manchester United.

Not only that, but, in the process, Rashford made history.

As revealed by statisticians Opta, the 25-year-old tonight became the first United player to net 30 goals in a single season for a decade, after Robin van Persie managed as much back in 2012-13.

Turning attentions towards the Chelsea side of things, en route to their side’s latest embarrassing defeat at Old Trafford, the Blues faithful in attendance, to their credit, managed to see the funny side of things.

In a lighthearted effort to take away from the achievement of their rampant hosts, fans of Frank Lampard’s troops could be heard chanting:

“You’re nothing special, we lose every week.”
