Manchester United’s woes mount as Harry Maguire second defender to limp off vs Aston Villa

Man United vs Aston Villa

Manchester United would face off with Aston Villa in an early Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The game was not televised in the UK as it was originally expected to be played at 3 pm but was moved. You can read about why this is happening here.

Regardless, Man United headed into the game no doubt desperate to bounce back from their disappointing 1-0 loss to West Ham in the League Cup earlier in the week.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a number of changes for that tie, but recalled heavy-hitters such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, David de Gea and Mason Greenwood to the starting line-up on Saturday.

Despite this, Man United would really struggle against Dean Smith’s side.

At the time of writing, the game remains deadlocked at 0-0, with Ronaldo and co. dominating but unable to take their chances.

An afternoon to forget for Man United

Firstly, with around 35 minutes gone, Luke Shaw was forced off with an injury. Man United described the issue as a knock, but more details will likely emerge over the weekend:

Then, with around 20 minutes of normal time remaining, Man United were then forced to take off captain, Harry Maguire, due to injury:

United have a tough run of games in the coming weeks and will be no doubt desperate to see the pair recover as soon as possible ahead of said games.
