Manchester United wonderkid could be handed first-team chance

A young Manchester United star could make his debut for the Red Devils next season.

The Telegraph report that Manchester United have no intention of loaning out Kobbie Mainoo this season and Erik ten Hag is keen to have him in the first-team fold.

Mainoo most recently impressed in a pre-season friendly for Manchester United vs Arsenal.

The teenager was deployed in central midfield with Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount either side and oozed confidence and composure in and out of possession, whilst also playing a key role in Bruno slotting past Aaron Ramsdale for the opener.

The report adds that Erik ten Hag is determined to see as much of Mainoo as he can on United’s pre-season tour of the US and it would not be a surprise to see him getting opportunities over the forthcoming campaign, especially if the likes of Fred and Donny van de Beek are moved on.

Mainoo joined Manchester United as a youngster and has made over 55 appearances for their youth sides, largely being used as a defensive midfielder or as a centre mid.
