Manchester United to drop Harry Maguire for Liverpool clash

Manchester United are set to make a change to their starting eleven for their upcoming clash with Liverpool.

Manchester United face bitter rivals Liverpool on Monday evening in a must-win game for both sides.

Liverpool have drawn their opening two games of the Premier League season, whilst Manchester United have fallen to defeat at the hands of Brighton and Brentford.

And whilst Liverpool have their issues heading into the game, it is fair to say Manchester United are in much, much worse shape.

Casemiro has not been signed in time to play any part in the match, leaving Erik ten Hag without a defensive midfielder once again.

David de Gea is also far from his best and United have shipped six goals in two games so far.

Now, ahead of the Liverpool game, it has been revealed that Harry Maguire will not start for Man United vs Jurgen Klopp and co.:

With Maguire benched, it is not currently known who will be named United captain for the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo would have been an obvious choice, but he has spent the entire summer trying to leave the club, so giving him the armband may not be the best idea.

De Gea is another United veteran who could take up the armband, but that may pile even more pressure on the Spaniard, who is really struggling to adapt to Ten Hag’s style.
