Manchester United’s third signing of the summer saw them snap up Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side, Atalanta.
Manchester United were in desperate need of a no.9 and splashed big money on the Dane, with £64m paid up front and £8m in potential add-ons.
However, the Red Devils have already been dealt a blow concerning Hojlund.
Matt Hughes of the Daily Mail reports that some sources at Manchester United are indicating that Hojlund’s back injury issue is more serious than the club disclosed after completing his transfer from Atalanta last week.
It is added that an MRI scan conducted as part of Hojlund’s medical last week revealed a stress response hotspot in his back, which can be the start of stress fractures in young players.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that Hojlund will be able to play two matches a week for some time.
Given Manchester United are in Europe this season, they will be playing two matches a week for much of the season. As a result, they will likely have to rely heavily on the injury-prone, out-of-form Anthony Martial more than most fans would have hoped.
