Manchester United fans react as woeful Jadon Sancho hooked after half an hour vs Young Boys

Manchester United fans react as woeful Jadon Sancho hooked after half an hour vs Young Boys

Manchester United take on Young Boys

Manchester United are currently locking horns with Young Boys in Switzerland in the opening game of the Champions League group stage. Cristiano Ronaldo gave the Red Devils the lead following a beautiful pass from Bruno Fernandes, played with the outside of his right foot into the star man’s path.

However, much of the focus in the first half an hour was on Jadon Sancho, who once again started on the right-hand-side of the Red Devils attack. Having failed to produce a goal or assist in his opening four appearances in the Premier League following his big money move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, it was surely hoped that this game would have sparked something in him.

Unfortunately for the Manchester United faithful, it seemed to do the complete opposite. Sancho seemed extremely low on confidence and on a completely different wavelength to his teammates. This was made worse 36 minutes in, when Aaron Wan Bissaka was sent off for a high challenge, which saw Sancho hooked in order to send on a replacement right-back.

Manchester United fans react to the substitution

As expected, Manchester United fans have taken to social media to express their anger at the substitution, with most questioning why it had to be the new signing, who needed more time to get up to speed, that had to be hooked:

Will this set Sancho back further?
