Word stemming from the Italian media late on Friday has pointed towards what would come as a shock swap deal coming to fruition between English and Italian champions Manchester City and AC Milan.
This comes amid the suggestion that the former have set their sights on the signature of a key member of the attacking setup at the San Siro.
The player in question? Rafael Leao.
Wide-man Leao is of course fresh off a scintillating campaign in Serie A, which saw the Portuguese rack up 11 goals and eight assists en route to Player of the Year honours in Italy’s top-flight.
With such form, though, has also come inevitable interest in the wide-man’s services.
To this point, Chelsea have been the outfit most hotly tipped as a potential landing spot for Leao ahead of next season.
As per a report from Italian publication Calciomercato, though, the aforementioned Man City have now too joined the race.
The Sky Blues, it is understood, are taking into consideration an exchange proposal to Milan, which would see Jack Grealish head to the San Siro, with Leao moving in the opposite direction.
The powers that be in Milano, though, may well take some convincing, currently not keen on the prospect of adding Grealish’s mammoth wage packet to their payroll.
