Liverpool lining up second addition as they open talks with two stars over summer transfers

The Reds are set to continue their summer spending

Liverpool are already lining up a second midfield addition this summer as they hold talks with the agents of French duo Manu Kone and Kephren Thuram in a bid to bring them to Merseyside ahead of the new season.

The Reds have long been reported to be undergoing a major overhaul in central midfield this summer, with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all leaving on free transfers at the end of last season, where Jurgen Klopp’s side finished a disappointing 5th place, meaning that they will only be able to offer Europa League football next season.

In a bid to strengthen, they have already confirmed the signing of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who has joined the club for £35m after the Reds activated a release clause in his contract and will take the no.10 shirt at Anfield.

Despite having missed out on both Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount this summer already, Klopp’s side are set to continue their spending in the coming weeks.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they have opened talks with the agents of both OGC Nice midfield star Kephren Thuram and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone, with a view to bringing them to Anfield.

It is unclear whether the Reds plan on adding both players, or just one of the two to their ranks before the September transfer deadline, though it is added that ‘no bid [has been] submitted yet’ for either player.

They are also set to add another right back and central defender, while outgoings could also see them target a goalkeeper and left-back.
