Liverpool handed boost ahead of Napoli

Liverpool begin their 2022/23 Champions League campaign on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool will face off with Napoli in Italy at 8 pm UK time at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

As well as Napoli, Liverpool have been drawn in Group A alongside Ajax and Rangers.

All of those sides are decent, so we may see an upset or two in the coming weeks and there is a danger Liverpool do not make it out of their group, especially if they begin their campaign with a loss.

Ahead of facing Napoli, Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media on Tuesday evening. The German discussed a number of topics in his presser, including team news.

Thiago is back in training, but Jordan Henderson is out until after the international break:

“Thiago is back in training, second day today, he’s ready. For how long, we’ll see. Hendo, the results of the scan [show] after the int’l break he’ll be back.”

Klopp also spoke out on Liverpool not beating Napoli away from home whilst he has been in charge:

“We never won here but we quite frequently qualified for CL final after Napoli was with us in groups. Maybe twice, once with Dortmund. I am a late bloomer, I need longer to achieve. We have to play better than 3 previous games.”
