Liverpool fans will love what Jordan Henderson said about Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott has had a mixed 2022/23 so far.

The young winger burst onto the scene at the beginning of last season, forming a great partnership down Liverpool’s right-hand side with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, Elliott then suffered a long-term injury that derailed the rest of his season.

Now though, Elliott is once again being handed a regular starting berth this campaign, in part due to Liverpool’s injury woes.

But whilst Elliott is a good young talent and excellent going forward, his lack of defensive awareness, combined with Alexander-Arnold’s inability to defend and Liverpool’s problems at centre-back, has led to the Reds being very exposed down their right this season. We saw this especially vs Crystal Palace and vs Manchester United.

Since those results, though, Liverpool have smashed Bournemouth 9-0 and Elliott bagged his first goal of the season.

Following that, Jordan Henderson has had this to say on his midfield counterpart:

“So like everyone else, you have to be able to deal with them as best you possibly can and Harvey certainly did that. Harvey’s ability speaks for itself; you only have to see him with the ball at his feet to see what a talent he is.

“It is sometimes easy to forget that he is still a teenager, but he still is very young, so performing as well as he did in the situation he was in is something he and his family should be incredibly proud of. I know as his captain I was proud of him myself.”
