Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool in October of 2015.

The German has since overseen Liverpool’s first-ever Premier League win back in 2019/20, he added another Champions League to the Reds’ collection and just last season, won the FA Cup and League Cup.

However, it is fair to say that the wheels have fallen off on Merseyside this term.

Liverpool’s hopes of challenging for the Premier League went out the window months ago, with the Reds having already lost more games and conceded more goals than they did in the entirety of 2022/23.

And on Tuesday evening, Liverpool blew a 2-0 lead vs Real Madrid at Anfield, going on to lose 5-2. This is the most goals Liverpool have ever conceded at Anfield on a European night.

Now, on Wednesday morning, Klopp’s future is being called into question.

It is added that one source inside the club described feelings toward Klopp as ‘samesy’ and in need of ‘freshening up’ with ‘a lot of players looking like they’ve lost their appetite’.

And whilst a final decision over Klopp’s future has yet to be decided, it has been suggested that should Liverpool’s board proceed with the sacking, the German will be afforded the chance to resign out of respect for what he has achieved during his eight years in charge.
