Lionel Messi to Barcelona: The latest

A fresh insight into the chances of Lionel Messi linking back up with La Liga heavyweights Barcelona has been provided on Thursday evening.

Veteran attacker Messi’s plans beyond the summer have of course long remained unclear, ahead of the expiration of his two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG, for their part, are known to be keen to lock Messi down for at least one more season, as the Argentine continues to prove himself one of world football’s finest, even at the age of 35.

And yet, speculation has continued to run rampant, regarding the World Cup winner’s potential arrival at a whole host of clubs across world football.

One such outfit persistently tipped as a potential destination, meanwhile, comes in the form of none other than Messi’s former employers, Barcelona.

Amid an ongoing rebuild under the watch of Xavi Hernandez at the Camp Nou, it has been widely suggested that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner could reunite with the Blaugrana, as he prepares to enter the twilight years of his career.

And, as alluded to above, late on Thursday, an update on the chances of as much coming to fruition has been provided.

The info comes courtesy of journalist Loic Tanzi, of French outlet RMC Sport.

And he points towards Messi stalling on committing to fresh terms in Paris, owing to his desire to ultimately make the move back to Barcelona ahead of next season:
