Manchester United & Super League

It was confirmed on Sunday night that Manchester United are one of the 12 teams who have agreed to join the newly established Super League.

The Super League launched its brand new website on Sunday, with the following statement:

Twelve of Europe’s leading football clubs have today come together to announce they have agreed to establish a new mid-week competition, the Super League, governed by its Founding Clubs.

AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined as Founding Clubs. It is anticipated that a further three clubs will join ahead of the inaugural season, which is intended to commence as soon as practicable.

Note: Manchester United have yet to issue a press release on social media

While Manchester United’s participation in the Super League has been confirmed, at the time of writing on Monday morning, the Red Devils themselves failed to issue a press release on any of their social media channels.

By contrast, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool (see below), Manchester City and Tottenham have all issues such official statements to their supporters.

For the record, Man United have published a report on joining the Super League on the club’s official website.
