Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan face City rivals AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday, with the biggest inter-city derby in recent memory set to reward the victor with their first final appearance in over a decade.

Inter have recovered from a dip in form to win their last five Serie A games in a row, including an impressive 2-0 win over Roma last time out, and sit just above their opponents coming into the game, occupying the final Champions League qualification spot for next season.

Having struggled for much of the campaign and indeed since Antonio Conte’s departure in 2021, Inter are looking back to something like their best in recent weeks, and are looking to make their first Champions League final appearance since they lifted the trophy in 2010, with one of Manchester City or Real Madrid waiting for them next month.

Here’s how we expect Inter to line up, and the latest team news from their side of San Siro.

Predicted XI

Team News

Like AC Milan, Inter are sweating on the fitness of some of their own squad. Milan Skriniar, who is leaving as a free agent at the end of the season, is suffering with a back injury, which is likely to see him continue to miss out.

The main decision that will have to be made is who leads the line for the Nerazzurri. Edin Dzeko has been the main man for much of the season, and is their top scorer in the Champions League this season with three goals. The Bosnian striker started both of the Champions League quarter-final ties against Benfica too and scored twice in the 6-0 thumping of Hellas Verona at the beginning of the month.
