How Everton's fans took aim at Raheem Sterling after substitution at Goodison Park

Sections of the home crowd in attendance at Everton's meeting with Manchester City this evening made use of the opportunity to poke fun at Raheem Sterling, after the English international was hauled off during the 2nd-half of action.

The jibe, altogether unsurprisingly, came owing to Sterling's Liverpool past.

As the wide-man made his way along the touchline towards the visitors' bench after seeing his number displayed on the fourth official's board, Sterling was greeted by chants of:

"Red and white s****, hello hello"

Foden makes the difference

Whilst Everton's supporters may have enjoyed some fun at the expense of Sterling mid-match at Goodison Park, when all was said and done on Saturday, ultimately, it was Manchester City who had the last laugh.

This came owing to an eventual 1-0 triumph, secured by Phil Foden inside the closing ten minutes of proceedings.

After latching onto a deflected delivery from the left flank, City's gifted starlet made no mistake with a perfect first touch, before slotting home at the helpless Jordan Pickford's near post:

Pep Guardiola's champions, in turn, have reestablished their 6-point advantage at the Premier League's summit, albeit with Liverpool boasting a game in hand owing to their League Cup final commitments this weekend.

At the other end of the table, though, the situation is beginning to look increasingly precarious for Everton, who sit just a point clear of Burnley and the relegation zone.
