Guardiola responds to claims Arsenal ‘bottled’ title

Pep Guardiola has been discussing Arsenal losing out on the Premier League title.

Arsenal spent much of the current campaign sat top of the Premier League.

At one point this year they had an 11-point lead over a Manchester City who were not firing on all cylinders.

However, City kicked into gear around February and have won their last 12 Premier League matches.

Arsenal, meanwhile, went on a horrible run of form, which cost them top spot.

The north Londoners drew with Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton before losing to Manchester City.

They then lost 3-0 to Brighton last weekend and 1-0 vs Nottingham Forest on Saturday. That final loss meant Manchester City won the Premier League without having to play their game.

Following City’s win over Chelsea on Sunday, though, Pep Guardiola has responded to claims that Arsenal bottled the league.

And Guardiola believes there is a tendency to underestimate teams who do not quite get over the line and wants the Gunners to be given the respect they deserve for such a promising season.

“It’s the tendency to underestimate. They are winners,” he said.
