Granit Xhaka drops major hint on his Arsenal future ahead of final game of the season

The midfielder could well be on his way out

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has taken to Instagram to drop a major hint that he may have played his final game for the Gunners amid rumours of a move away from the club.

Mikel Arteta’s side are in action against Wolves on Sunday afternoon in what is set to be a celebration of second place in the Premier League, with neither club having anything left to play for heading into the final day of the campaign.

But they could be about to wave goodbye to Xhaka too, with the Switzerland midfielder having been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer, and Bayer Leverkusen seemingly his most likely destination.

Arsenal will receive a fee of around 15m euros, according to reports, while Xhaka himself will receive a four year contract upon his return to the Bundesliga, which he left to join Arsenal in 2016.

The 30-year-old appears to have all but confirmed the move himself too, taking to Instagram to post a thank you message to the fans for his seven years at the club.

“Thank you Gunners”, he wrote before adding “2 Community Shield” and “2 FA Cup” in what can easily be seen as goodbye message to the Arsenal fans.

They are also expected to strengthen in defence, with a new right back on the cards, while the departure of Rob Holding could see a central defender also arrive.

Xhaka’s presence, however, will be missed, with the Switzerland captain having a strong dressing room presence in north London and coming off his best goalscoring season for the club.
