Fresh insight provided into Christian Eriksen's Brentford future beyond the summer


 

A fresh insight into the chances of Premier League outfit Brentford and midfielder Christian Eriksen extending their relationship beyond the summer has been provided on Monday evening.

Danish international Eriksen of course put pen to paper on a short-term deal in west London during the January transfer window.

This marked a remarkable return to not only football, but also the Premier League for the former Tottenham standout, after his frightening cardiac arrest at last summer's European Championships brought the sport to a grinding halt.

Eriksen, in turn, has since gone on to feature in a trio of outings for Brentford, even chipping in with an assist last time out as the midfielder continues to work his way back towards full fitness.

It should therefore come as little surprise to hear that the powers that be at the Brentford Community Stadium have set their sights on an extended star for Eriksen.

As per a report from The Times, Thomas Frank and co. are 'confident' in their chances of agreeing to fresh terms with the Dane in the summer.

This will remain the case so long as a member of the Premier League's top-6 does not come calling, at least.

The Bees, it is understood, are yet to make formal contact with their winter addition over the prospect of penning a contract beyond the close of the campaign, but such discussions will soon be initiated, amid the expectation that an agreement will ultimately be struck.

Dream Denmark return

The latest word on Eriksen's future of course comes fresh on the back of the 30-year-old marking his return to the international stage with a bang.

After being introduced at the midway point of Denmark's friendly meeting with the Netherlands over the weekend, the ex-Inter Milan man took just two minutes to make a telling impact.
