Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has this afternoon provided an injury update on the sidelined Christian Pulisic.
Chelsea visit Newcastle
The Blues are set to return to action tomorrow evening, with a trip to St. James’ Park.
Lampard’s men will no doubt head into proceedings with confidence high, on the back of 3 wins and a draw from their last 4 outings across all competitions.
The latest of these came last weekend, when Chelsea made short work of Burnley at Stamford Bridge, en route to a 3-0 victory.
Their win over the Clarets leaves the capital giants sitting 4th in the Premier League table, 5 points clear of 5th-placed Manchester United, who face a tough trip to Anfield on Sunday.
Chelsea’s upcoming opponents, meanwhile, in the form of Steve Bruce’s Newcastle, are currently in the midst of a 4-game Premier League winless streak.
As such, speaking ahead of a weekend that could see his side put further distance between themselves and the rest of the English top-flight’s Champions League-chasing pack, Frank Lampard this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad.
The main talking point surrounded Christian Pulisic, who has been sidelined of late with an adductor problem.
American attacker Pulisic recently revealed his hope that he would be back on the pitch ‘within the next couple weeks’.
Frank Lampard, though, has since suggested otherwise.
The Chelsea boss instead earmarked the fixtures following his side’s week-long break in the middle of February as a realistic return target for the 21-year-old.
There was also an update forthcoming on fellow injury absentee Ruben Loftus-Cheek:
Lampard reports that Christian Pulisic is likely to injured up to the winter break but should be fit after it. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been making good progress training with the Academy sides. He hopes he can training with the main squad after the break.#NEWCHE
