Odense BK sign 19-year-old Tarik Ibrahimagic

We are happy to introduce you to a footballer with arguably the greatest name in the history of the game: Tarik Ibrahimagic.

On May 11, Danish club Odense BK dropped an unassuming tweet announcing that 19-year-old Tarik Ibrahimagic had signed for the club.

Ibrahimagic agreed a 2-year deal with Odense BK.

And, in classic social media fashion, news of the signing has quickly spread online.

Who is Tarik Ibrahimagic?

Ibrahimagic’s family come from Bosnia, however the teenager was brought up in Denmark.

To be clear, the family name is Ibrahimagic. Tariq hasn’t changed it by deed poll.

Ibrahimagic has now progressed from the Odense BK youth academy into their first team.

The midfielder has also represented Denmark U19 on three occasions.

In October 2019 he made his international U19 debut against Ireland.

Is Tarik Ibrahimagic related to Zlatan Ibrahimovic?

Danish paper BT have released a new interview with Tariq Ibrahimagic following his recent online fame.

One of the obvious lines of questioning was to ask Tariq about Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 19-year-old said:

It’s wild. It’s also a bit of a pressure, but it’s fun to look at.

Being compared to him – it’s a big deal. But it would be bigger if it was on the football field, where we are two different types of players who play different positions.

So, in terms of play, we are a little far apart. But there are some similarities and some pictures where we can look alike. People have been sending them my way.

Often when I say my name out loud, people ask me if I’m related to Zlatan, which I am not. But he is a player I look up to.

I dream of achieving a career like his, with success in the big European clubs and especially at FC Barcelona.

When could Tarik Ibrahimagic make his Odense BK debut?

The new Danish Superliga campaign is due to start on June 1.

Odense BK are scheduled to play against AGF in the opening round of the season.

What’s going on with Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Will he stay at AC Milan?

Now 38, Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains an AC Milan player until the end of the season.

In the past few days, Zlatan has returned to training with the Rossoneri ahead of the hopeful Serie A restart in June.

There’s been plenty of speculation over whether Ibra will agree a new deal to stay in Milan next season. So far, there’s been no resolution on that front.
