Eriksen tells Danish fans to call Conte and ask him why he is not playing at Inter Milan
The Danish problem
Christian Eriksen’s decision to leave Spurs is looking increasingly likely to have been a mistake. Though Tottenham’s trophy drought dragged on, the Danish international was a regular starter, and adored by fans.
Since moving to Inter Milan, however, Eriksen’s opportunities have been limited. Coach Antonio Conte has chopped and changed his systems, allowing the likes of Nicolo Barella further time in more advanced roles.
Despite this, Eriksen has managed starts in half of Inter’s Serie A and Champions League fixtures this season. The Dane is yet to see out 90 minutes, though.
“This must be asked to the coach,” Eriksen replied to a question on a Danish FA Q&A session when asked about his lack of game time.
“Call him and talk to him, because he is the one who makes decisions. Ups and downs are always there in football, there are only a few ones out there who have always highs. I’ve become better at not thinking about [criticism], because everyone has an opinion.
“Especially now that I’ve moved to Italy, where everyone has an opinion. It’s about trusting those around you and not hearing the rest.”
Conflicting signs
Two weeks prior, Antonio Conte was asked whether he sees space for Eriksen in his Nerazzurri side. The Italian coach was encouraging, and seemingly confirmed that the midfielder is set to see more game time:
“If he plays little or less at Inter, I don’t know. For me, he’s playing the right amount while respecting the team,” said Conte.
“I can make mistakes, but I’m happy with what Christian brings to the group and I think he is too. There will be space for him, as for all the others. It will be a long and exhausting season.”

Nevertheless, recent reports have suggested that Inter Milan would be willing to sell Eriksen were a suitable offer to arrive. CalcioMercato reports that a bid as low as 20 million euros would be enough to tempt the Milanese giants to part with the Dane.
The report adds that fellow Serie A sides Juventus, Roma, Lazio and rivals AC Milan would all be interested.
Inter Milan are set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League in their next outing. Eriksen could of course feature, but at this stage, that much is anyone’s guess.
