Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook praised his side’s performance after the Cherries continued their perfect start to the Europa League with a win over Sturm Graz.
The result made it two wins from two in Europe for Bournemouth, who responded to Saturday’s Premier League defeat at Chelsea with an impressive display.
Cook was particularly pleased with the atmosphere and the way his team-mates handled the occasion, describing it as a night the club could be proud of.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Cook praised the collective effort and admitted the occasion felt special even before kick-off.
“I thought the performance was top. It was a special night, you could feel that before the game, when were lining up as players,” he said.
“The atmosphere was great. It was a top performance, we bounced back from the weekend and it was something we can be very proud of.”
Bournemouth had little time to dwell on their defeat at Stamford Bridge, with their European commitments offering an immediate opportunity to respond.
Cook believes the quick turnaround helped the squad move on from that disappointment and produce a much-improved performance.
“That is a positive. There are so many games in a short space of time,” he explained.
“If we have a bad game then we’ve only got a couple of days to get over it and then onto the next one and I thought the lads showed that today and handled themselves well.
“It is tough with a bad result to come back and do well. Everyone who played today was fantastic and it was a collective effort and a great win.”
