Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has, late on Saturday, provided an update on the wellbeing of star midfielder Joelinton.
Brazilian standout Joelinton, of course, sent pulses racing across the Newcastle fanbase earlier this evening.
This came as the Magpies marked their return to action, in a Premier League meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool
On a difficult day which ultimately culminated in the club’s long-standing unbeaten streak being brought to an end, though, Joelinton was forced into a premature departure from proceedings.
This came 20 minutes from time, when the former Hoffenheim star pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular problem.

Speaking to the media on a day which also saw his side lose first-choice goalkeeper Nick Pope to suspension ahead of next weekend’s League Cup final, Eddie Howe, in turn, was inevitably drawn on Joelinton’s wellbeing.
The hope is therefore understandably that his issue will ultimately prove to be nothing ‘serious’.
Howe on Joelinton: “We hope he’s OK. He wanted to carry on – I wanted to protect him for the games ahead. We hope it’s not serious.” #NUFC
