Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski has revealed that ‘revenge’ played a big part in his early Tottenham form after joining the club in January 2022 from Juventus.
The Swede arrived in a deadline day double swoop with Rodrigo Bentancur, joining on an initial loan deal that is set to be made permanent this summer, and is obligated to be made permanent should Spurs manage to qualify for the Champions League this season.
And he hit the ground running, grabbing five goals and eight assists in the second half of the Premier League as he helped the Lilywhites claim a Champions League spot at the expense of their north London rivals Arsenal, who had also been credited with an interest in the attacker six months prior.

Now, speaking to the Guardian, “Deki” (as he has become known in north London) revealed that plenty of his motivation to succeed at Tottenham came from his Juventus stint.
“I had a lot of revenge in my head,” the Tottenham forward explained. “A lot of anger. In the last months at Juventus, I didn’t play so much. I didn’t like where my football was going. All I wanted was to show people what I could do so I came here.”
Despite his early promise, injuries and Tottenham’s lack of form have seen Kulusevski and his side struggle this season, especially against other members of the so-called top six, having yet to pick a win this season in any of their clashes and with only a solitary draw to show for their efforts.
