Cristiano Ronaldo fails to score in La Liga again
Cristiano Ronaldo played 90 minutes against Las Palmas on Sunday. The Portuguese superstar did not score.
It is becoming a theme of Real Madrid’s La Liga season, that Ronaldo simply cannot find the net in the league.
Ronaldo has scored one goal in La Liga this season, despite playing seven games.
In terms of La Liga at least, this is far and away Ronaldo’s worst goal return since joining Real Madrid from Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo can score for Portugal & in the Champions League
The surprising angle on Ronaldo’s goal struggles in La Liga is that he can score in other competitions.
Ronaldo has scored six goals in the Champions League, in just four games and he continues to notch for Portugal.
Some have suggested that the early season La Liga suspension has affected Ronaldo’s confidence or goal scoring output.
Even in the La Liga game Ronaldo did score in, at Getafe, the Portuguese superstar missed an absolute sitter as well.
And, it was also noticed how Ronaldo may be somewhat begrudging of his team mates when they score in La Liga.
This was claimed by some after Isco’s goal against Las Palmas on Sunday, set up by Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is 11 La Liga goals behind Leo Messi
It now seems hugely unlikely that Ronaldo will finish the season as top scorer in La Liga.
Whilst Ronaldo has one goal to his name this season, Leo Messi has 12. Valencia’s Simone Zaza is on 9 and will be hugely difficult to catch.
Yet, a report on Spanish radio station Onda Cero has claimed that Ronaldo is still confident of winning the “Pichichi Trophy” for the top goal scorer in Spain’s top flight.
Ronaldo has won this trophy three times previously and is a goal scorer supreme. The best in Real Madrid and the Champions League’s history.
Cristiano Ronaldo has made an unbelievable bet with his Real Madrid team mates
Yet this still feels a long shot with 27 games to go and one goal in La Liga.
Ronaldo has told his Real Madrid team mates that he will finish the season as top goal scorer.
And, is so confident that he has put money on the line with two key players for Real Madrid.
The report from the Onda Cero programme El Transistor claims Ronaldo bet with “two captains” of Real Madrid.
The four Real Madrid club captains this season are Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Karim Benzema.
Whilst this is an outlandish bet, Ronaldo should surely be admired not just for his confidence.
Whoever loses will pay their money to a charity of their choice.
