Chelsea vs West Ham betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Chelsea vs West Ham prediction: Chelsea 3-0 West Ham

Can Chelsea bounce back?

Despite defeat last weekend, it’s been a fabulous start to the season for the Blues.

Nevertheless, Frank Lampard will want to get back to winning ways and this could be the ideal fixture in which to do just that.

West Ham are hapless and hopeless right now and Manuel Pellegrini could be on the brink of losing his job.

Surely this one will only go one way.

Chelsea vs West Ham United: Who will win?

Chelsea are massive odds on favourites at 2/7 to win this one.

West Ham meanwhile last won at Stamford Bridge in 2002 and are 17/2 to change that.

A draw would also be a major surprise and that is 19/4.

Over 2.5 goals is 2/5.

Both teams to score no though is evens.

Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals is 4/7.

Chelsea to win and both teams to score no is 5/4.

Tammy Abraham is one of just two players to have hit ten Premier League goals already this season. He is 11/5 to open the scoring and 1/2 to score yet again.

Christian Pulisic has also been amongst the goals in recent weeks. Captain America is 7/2 to score first and 21/20 to score anytime.

Sébastien Haller is West Ham’s top scorer with four. The Frenchman is 10/1 to break the deadlock and 3/1 to end his own personal goal draught.

Andriy Yarmolenko will also be hoping to be a threat. The Ukrainian is 12/1 to score first and 7/2 to score anytime.

Both Pulisic and Abraham to score is 12/5.

Both Willian and Abraham to score is 9/2.

Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté to score is 16/1.

Both Michail Antonio and Haller to score is 20/1.

Both Felipe Anderson and Mark Noble to score is 70/1.

Can Chelsea get back to winning ways?

Last weekend, despite taking an early lead through N’Golo Kanté, they were unlucky in a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City.

That ended a run of six straight Premier League wins for the Blues who remain fourth in the Premier League.

Still, only the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool have beaten them so far and Frank Lampard’s side are exceeding expectations.

After this, they face Aston Villa, Everton and Bournemouth before a trip to Tottenham just before Christmas.

Can the Blues rebuild some momentum which is always key particularly during the packed festive period?

In the UEFA Champions League, they’re also in a strong position after a good result on Wednesday night.

They travelled to the Mestalla to face Valencia but it was Los Che who took the lead in the 40th minute.

But, less than 60 seconds later, Mateo Kovačić fired in a vital equaliser.

Just four minutes after the restart, Chelsea were in front when Christian Pulisic poked home from close range.

But, shortly after, a foul by Jorginho led to a Valencia penalty.

Kepa Arrizabalaga though stood tall and made a vital save.

However, with only seven minutes remaining, the Spanish goalkeeper went from hero to villain, letting a cross inexplicably float over his head.

Both teams had chances to win it but 2-2 it finished on the east coast of Spain.

So, on matchday six, Chelsea will go through if they beat Group H’s bottom side LOSC Lille at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s 21 games this season have witnessed 79 goals and there should be even more to come here.

Will they be too strong for West Ham?

Will West Ham end their winless run?

It is looking very bleak for Manuel Pellegrini.

After seven games, his team had 12 points with their only defeat coming back on the opening day against Manchester City.

However, they have not won since then.

Last weekend, they found themselves 3-0 down at home to Tottenham after just 49 minutes.

They did get it back to 2-3 with two late goals but never has a 3-2 scoreline flattered the losing side more.

That follows defeats to Burnley, Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace all in their last five.

In that time, they’ve fallen from fifth in the table all the way down to 17th and been dumped out of the Carabao Cup 4-0 by Oxford United of League One.

After this they face Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Arsenal so things could get worse before they get better.

This is already their longest winless run under Pellegrini.

In fact, the last time they went six games without a victory, Slaven Bilić was sacked.

Will the Argentine Head Coach follow suit or can he pull a shock result out of nowhere in West London?

After an energy sapping visit to Valencia on Wednesday, Frank Lampard may be forced to rotate his squad more than he may like.

As always, Kepa Arrizabalaga will be in goal.

In defence on Wednesday, Reece James got the nod at right-back with captain César Azpilicueta moved over to the left.

However, in a game the Blues are likely to dominate, the latter is likely to drop out with natural left-footer Emerson Palmieri coming in.

In the centre, Andreas Christensen got a rare chance in the Mestalla but was far from impressive.

So, Fikayo Tomori is likely to come back in alongside Kurt Zouma.

Antonio Rüdiger is still injured.

In midfield, N’Golo Kanté was amongst the goals at Manchester City last weekend.

The World Cup winner has scored three Premier League goals this season from just three shots on target.

Meanwhile, Mateo Kovačić also got a rare goal in mid-week.

In fact, that was his first Chelsea goal coming in his 71st appearance for the club as a result of his 41st shot.

Those two are likely to continue in midfield ahead of the distributor Jorginho.

Further forward, Christian Pulisic and Willian could continue out-wide at the expense of Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Pedro.

They may be forced into a change through the middle through.

Tammy Abraham was forced off in Spain with, what looked like, a hip injury so is unlikely to feature here.

So, Michy Batshuayi will deputise with want-away Olivier Giroud still left in reserve.

This strong side should blow West Ham away.

After continuous horrific performances, Manuel Pellegrini is expected to make changes.

Starting in goal.

Łukasz Fabiański got injured in the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth and they have not won since, which is certainly not a coincidence.

In fact, since Roberto came into the team, the Irons have amassed two points from six games.

The Spaniard has conceded 15 goals while only make 34 saves.

The summer signing from Espanyol has been terrible and needs to be taken out of the team.

So, 33 year old David Martin is likely to make his Premier League debut after joining from Millwall in June.

Their recent woes are not all down to the goalkeeper though, the defence has been shambolic too.

However, the only change from last weekend is likely to see Fabián Balbuena come back in for Angelo Ogbonna.

Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Aaron Cresswell will all keep their places.

Declan Rice and Mark Noble will continue ahead of the back four, looking to offer protection.

Robert Snodgrass will continue along with them in the centre.

Out-wide, Pellegrini appears pretty wedded to Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko.

This’ll see Michail Antonio left on the bench.

His goal as a substitute last weekend means he has scored four West Ham goals against Tottenham in four different stadiums.

Up front will be Sébastien Haller.

He scored four goals in his first seven West Ham appearances but has not netted since.

This would be the ideal time for him to break that duck.
