He is the spearhead of this Chelsea forward line and has strong numbers to match the eye test. At 7.7m, he offers an excellent combination of price, role and ceiling, while his ownership should not put managers off. He may not be a differential, but he is an obvious priority buy if you do not own him – and a genuine captaincy contender this week.
Thierno Barry

Thierno Barry is not the most exciting Gameweek 4 transfer in isolation, but the longer-term case is strong. Everton’s next fixture may not be ideal, yet Ipswich and Hull follow in Gameweeks 5 and 6. Those are two games that could quickly turn Barry into one of the best value forwards in FPL.
Beto’s departure should make Barry Everton’s first-choice striker, giving him a much clearer route to regular starts. He could also take penalties following Iliman Ndiaye’s exit, although that should be confirmed before it becomes a major factor in your decision. At 5.6m, Barry is cheap enough to bench when required, making him an easy pick for managers planning ahead.
Cole Palmer

Chelsea have looked excellent going forward, and there may not be a player in FPL with a higher ceiling than Cole Palmer. He is on penalties, involved in set-pieces and constantly around Chelsea’s best attacking moments. When Chelsea have a strong home fixture, Palmer always carries the potential for a huge haul.
Hull at Stamford Bridge is exactly the sort of fixture that makes him a major Gameweek 4 target. Chelsea have the highest projected goal total of the round, while Palmer is the leading projected points scorer and has been among the best midfielders for shots in the box. He is expensive, but if you can afford him, he is arguably the standout captain this week.
Morgan Rogers

Off the back of four assists in the EFL Cup, Morgan Rogers is the ideal alternative for managers who cannot reach Cole Palmer. At 7.6m, he offers a cheaper route into Chelsea’s attack while retaining a strong creative role in the front three. His 3.3 key-pass per start and expected-assist numbers have been among the best in the league through three Gameweeks.
Rogers does not have Palmer’s penalty duties or captaincy ceiling, but he is not simply a budget compromise. He creates chances, links the attack and has already shown that he can produce returns. With Hull, Brentford, Bournemouth and Everton coming up, he offers an excellent run at a much more manageable price.
Ezri Konsa

Ezri Konsa looks like excellent value at 4.4m if his place in Arsenal’s defence remains secure. Arsenal are arguably the best defensive side in the league and can keep clean sheets against almost anyone. A reliable starter from their back line at this price is difficult to ignore.
William Saliba’s absence could last until the festive period, which makes Konsa more than a short-term replacement. Arsenal also have a strong fixture against Sunderland in Gameweek 4, with a high clean sheet chance. Do not overthink it: a nailed Arsenal defender at 4.4m frees budget elsewhere and provides a dependable route to returns.
