Chelsea issue worrying injury update as third transfer confirmed

The Blues are losing increasing numbers to injury

Chelsea have confirmed that Ivorian forward David Datro Fofana has signed a contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2029, with the option for a further year should he prove a success, as the Blues confirmed their second winter signing.

Benoit Badiashile and Andrey Santos have both already arrived from Monaco and Vasco de Gama respectively, while a deal for Fofana had already been confirmed, though no details had been provided.

Now, the Blues have revealed that the striker, who will wear the number 27 shirt, has put pen to paper on a six year deal, with the option for a seventh, in keeping with the long contracts handed to namesake Wesley Fofana, Badiashile and Marc Cucurella in the months since Todd Boehly’s arrival.

“Hello dear fans, I’m here”, the 20-year-old told the Chelsea website. “I’ve arrived well and I’m very happy to sign for the club of my dreams. I’ll see you soon on the pitch, cheers!”

Mendy injury update provided

In less good news in west London, however, the club have confirmed that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will be sidelined for some time after picking up an injury in training ahead of their defeat to Manchester City.

The Senegal shot-stopper, who has been ousted by Kepa as the club’s no.1 under Graham Potter, fractured his finger in a session this week, and has been forced to undergo surgery.

“The 30-year-old will work closely with the club’s medical department during his rehabilitation phase.”

It adds to the lengthening injury list at Stamford Bridge, with ten senior players now sidelined with various issues including key players N’Golo Kante, Wesley Fofana, Reece James and Raheem Sterling.
