There were emphatic wins for all five Premier League teams in Carabao Cup action in the second round on Tuesday night.

Everton, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Brighton and Leicester all secured comfortable victories over lower-league opposition to book their place in the third round, scoring a combined 17 goals and conceding none.

The Toffees scored three second-half goals to beat Doncaster 3-0, with Palace winning 4-0 against Championship Norwich.

Meanwhile, Brighton and Leicester were 4-0 winners over Crawley and Tranmere respectively as Fulham saw off Birmingham 2-0 on the road.

Everton get first win of season

Everton recovered from a quiet first half to get their first win of the season with the 3-0 win over League Two Doncaster.

Tim Ireogbunam, a summer signing from Aston Villa, opened the scoring with a well-hit strike from outside the box which arrowed into the bottom corner for what was the Toffees’ first goal of the campaign.

Fellow arrival Iliman Ndiaye slotted home the second after a lively second half before striker Beto sealed the victory with seven minutes of normal time remiaining.

Seagulls see off spirited Crawley

Brighton were eventually 4-0 winners against Crawley after surviving a tough challenge from their League One opponents.

The underdogs played some excellent football in the first half, going close with a number of opportunities.

Simon Adingra raced through to put the Seagulls 1-0 up against the run of play before Fabian Hurzeler’s men turned the screw with goals from Jeremy Sarmiento, Adam Webster and Mark O’Mahony beforer Crawley’s Jack Roles saw red late on.

Leicester get first win under Cooper

Leicester are up and running under Steve Cooper after the Championship winners hit four against Tranmere.

Jordan Ayew scored his first Foxes goal with a long-range stunner before Stephy Mavididi, Wilfried Ndidi and Harry Winks ensured passage to the third round.

Stansfield nets on Blues return

Jay Stansfield scored on his return to Birmingham with Fulham in a 2-0 victory for the Premier League side.

The youngster, who scored 13 goals on loan at the Blues last term, raced through to double the Cottagers’ lead in the first half after Raul Jimenez opened the scoring from the spot in a comfortable win.

Mateta double helps Palace sink Norwich

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored twice including a wonderful bicycle kick in a 4-0 victory for Crystal Palace over Norwich.

Summer signing Daichi Kamada scored after just two minutes, with Mateta adding the second and third before Ebere Eze scored his first goal of the season to round off the evening at Selhurst Park.
