Canelo Alvarez threatens Lionel Messi after Argentina vs Mexico

Multiple world boxing champion Canelo Alvarez has threatened Lionel Messi after accusing the legendary footballer of disrespecting the Mexico flag.

Argentina and Mexico faced off on Saturday evening in their second group game of the World Cup.

Argentina headed into the game on the back of a shock 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia in the opening match week.

Mexico, meanwhile, were held to a 0-0 draw by Poland, so both sides needed a win on Saturday.

It was Argentina who came away with a victory, though, with Lionel Messi scoring their first and setting up their second.

After the game, footage emerged of Argentina’s euphoric dressing room celebrations.

Canelo Alvarez reacted to one particular video of Argentina’s celebrations by accusing Messi of disrespecting a Mexico shirt or flag.

In a series of tweets, per the Daily Mail, Alvarez wrote: “Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag.

“He better pray to God that I don’t find him.

“Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico! I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.”
