Borussia Dortmund President issues Jude Bellingham transfer update amid Liverpool interest

The Reds have been keen on the midfielder for over a year

Borussia Dortmund president Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that no bids have been tabled for Jude Bellingham as of yet as the German club gear up for a summer bidding war which is likely to become a record addition should he make a Premier League switch.

The Dortmund man, who has shone this season in the centre of midfield for the German club, further raised his profile with a series of excellent outings at the World Cup for Gareth Southgate and England, scoring the first goal of the tournament for the Three Lions and producing a great performance in the round of 16 tie against Senegal to help them to a quarter-final, where they were ultimately beaten by France.

And Liverpool hold a longstanding interest in the star, though they will have to fight off significant interest from both Madrid and Manchester City, who are also looking to refresh their midfield.

However, they were told last month that no offers have been tabled yet for the talented midfielder, and Borussia Dortmund president Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that this continues to be the case, before adding that the club are still trying to keep hold of their star man.

“No new development has taken place. We will have to be patient a little longer”, he explained.

“Of course we’ll try to keep Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund as long as possible because he’s an incredibly important player”, Kehl added.

Liverpool continue to have the Englishman at the top of their list for midfield reinforcements, but have also lined up potential alternatives, including Premier League duo Moises Caicedo and Matheus Nunes, in case they are ultimately priced out of a move for the Dortmund star.
