Barcelona dealt fresh injury blow ahead of Man United showdown

Spanish giants Barcelona have, late on Sunday, been dealt a concerning blow on the personnel front.

Xavi Hernandez’s troops, of course, are currently locked in action.

Amid efforts to reestablish their eight-point lead over Clasico rivals Real Madrid atop the La Liga table, the Blaugrana have welcomed Sevilla to the Camp Nou, for a highly-anticipated clash.

As alluded to above, however, just minutes after proceedings were kicked into gear in Catalunya, Barca’s hopes for not only the night, but potentially the weeks to come, too, were dealt a blow.

This came upon captain and midfield general Sergio Busquets pulling up with appeared to be an ankle concern, after catching his left foot in the turf.

Swiftly tended to by the hosts’ medical team, it was subsequently decided that the veteran Spaniard was in no fit state to continue, culminating in his departure from the action for Franck Kessie.

It now remains to be seen whether Busquets faces any sort of extended spell on the sidelines, ahead of Barcelona’s highly-anticipated Europa League showdown with Manchester United in less than two weeks’ time.
