Aston Villa have joined the race for ex-Arsenal target Youri Tielemans this summer as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad following an exceptional season.
The Villains secured European football for the first time in a decade as they qualified for the UEFA Conference League at the expense of Tottenham on the final day of the season.
Now, they are looking to add depth and quality to their ranks, and have identified Youri Tielemans, now a free agent after his deal with Leicester City expired, as a man who could do just that.
Though he is coming off a bad season, the Belgian at one points had much of the Premier League top 6 chasing his signature and rumours of a £40m move away from the King Power refused to go away, with Arsenal the most heavily linked.

However, none of those clubs seem to have followed up their interest in the 26-year-old, and now the Athletic report that ‘Aston Villa have joined the race’ for his signature, with clubs across Europe weighing up whether to make a move for him.
They add that ‘Unai Emery would like a move to be completed quickly after missing out on a midfield target in the January transfer window’ and that Aston Villa expected to make an approach for Tielemans soon’.
Villa are also in the market for another forward this summer, and are waiting on Emiliano Martinez to make a decision on his future after being linked with a move away this summer.
