Arsenal midfielder Jorginho could be set to leave the club just six months after making the switch to north London, it has emerged, with Lazio thought to be keen on reuniting the midfielder with Maurizio Sarri.

The Italian midfielder only arrived from Chelsea on January’s transfer deadline day, completing a £12m move across London in a bid to help Arsenal with their charge for the Premier League title after the Gunners saw three bids for Moises Caicedo turned down.

Signed on an 18 month deal, the 31-year-old made 14 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side contributing a goal and an assist. However, he has often been linked with a move back to Italy and specifically a reunion with Sarri, who he experienced success with at Napoli and who was responsible for signing him at Chelsea.

Now, reports in Italy claim that Lazio are working on a deal to bring Jorginho back to his home country, but add that the costs could be difficult with Arsenal set to demand a fee similar to the £12m that they paid for him in January.

Meanwhile, 90min claim that Arsenal ‘will not stand in his way this summer’ should he wish to leave, though they are ‘not actively looking to force Jorginho out of the club’.

The Gunners are already set to lose one midfielder this summer, with Granit Xhaka’s move to Bayer Leverkusen in the final stages in what is set to be a deal worth around £13m.
