Arsenal are reportedly in pole position to land PSV starlet Cody Gakpo in a big-money move this summer as they look to bolster their forward line.
That is according to generally reliable Dutch site Voetbal International, who claim that Arsenal lead the way for his signature ahead of other interested parties, including Liverpool and Chelsea.

They claim that any deal from Eindhoven’s point of view would need to be worth more than their current record sale, which saw Hirving Lozano join Napoli for 40 million euros. Given that Gakpo is under contract until 2026, they are in no rush to sell the 22-year-old, while Arsenal will on the other hand be desperate for a striker.
With both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract this summer for Mikel Arteta’s side, there is a clear need for at least one, and potentially two, new faces to lead the Gunners frontline.
Who is Cody Gakpo?
Gakpo would be an interesting option for Arsenal to opt for as a striker, and would likely come in as second choice behind a more natural no.9. Generally deployed on the left-wing for PSV, the 22-year-old has played just 3 games through the middle for the Eredivise outfit.

Should he be able to bring his form from PSV in his next step up, he could become one of the most exciting forwards in the world. The step up is likely to be big, however.
