Arsenal loanee Lokonga sends heartfelt farewell message to sacked Crystal Palace boss Vieira

Crystal Palace star Sambi Lokonga has taken to social media on Saturday, to send a message to departing head coach Patrick Vieira.

For those who may have missed it, Vieira was officially relieved of his duties at Selhurst Park a little over 24 hours ago.

Amid an alarming stretch of form, culminating in no wins in twelve and a trio of defeats on the bounce, the board in south London finally came to the decision that Vieira’s position was no longer tenable.

Now sitting precariously just three points clear of the drop zone, attentions at Palace, in turn, will now shift towards finding a swift replacement.

For one member of the Eagles’ playing setup, though, it will seemingly take some time to fully get over the exit of his now-former manager.

The player in question? Sambi Lokonga.

Taking to his official Instagram account on Saturday, Lokonga - on loan from another of Vieira’s former clubs in Arsenal - sent a heartfelt message to the French tactician.

Making clear his appreciation for Vieira’s guidance across their time together at Selhurst Park, the 23-year-old wrote:

“Thank you for giving me back the smile during this short period of time. See you soon coach!”
